Museum of Fine Arts Houston to reopen galleries May 23

The Rienzi and Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, at 1001 Bissonnet St., Houston, will reopen to the public May 23, the museum announced May 18.

The museum will open while following social distancing guidelines and ataking dditional health and safety precautions, including face mask and temperature check requirements, taking payments via credit cards only and more, according to the announcement.


“This has been a thorough process, one that considers many variables and takes into account state and city guidelines, close coordination with City Hall and Houston Museum District colleagues, and ongoing discussions with our own staff and museum peers around the world,” Director Gary Tinterow wrote in the announcement.

Meanwhile, virtual films, family activities, and other online programs will continued to be offered twice weekly through the #MFAHatHome Virtual Experience.
