Brookshire, Waller and Conroe Northeast saw the largest increase in home sales year over year, according to the Houston Association of Realtors’ Q3 Hottest Communities report released Oct. 28.

The details

Brookshire had the largest percentage increase in home sales year over year with 257.6%, according to the report. Of the homes sold in the community, 88% were newly built, the report states.

Other communities that saw increases in total home sales year over year are:
  • Waller with a 76.9% increase
  • Conroe Northeast with a 75.3% increase
  • Porter/New Caney West with a 71.4% increase
  • Magnolia/1488 West with a 55.3% increase
  • Fulshear/S. Brookshire/Simonton with a 45.8% increase
  • Montrose with a 45% increase
  • Deer Park with a 37.3% increase
  • Fall Creek with a 33.3% increase
  • Dayton with a 30% increase
According to the report, construction remains a driving force behind home sales, accounting for more than 65% of sales in the top five performing communities.

Six of the top ten performing communities also had average home prices below the Houston area average of $415,435, according to the report.

“The demand for new construction homes in the Houston area is steadily rising due to their affordability,” HAR Chair Thomas Mouton said via news release. “As more buyers seek out value and convenience, I believe there will be further growth in the new home market in the months ahead.”
