St. Luke’s Health has awarded $1.5 million in grants to nonprofit agencies for projects relating to the health and well-being of those in underserved communities.

A total of 23 nonprofits received a total of 32 grants across St. Luke’s service areas in Greater Houston, East Texas and the Brazos Valley, according to a news release.

St. Luke’s Health is a member of CommonSpirit Health and the grants are funded by the CommonSpirit Health Community Health Improvement Grant program, which is now in its second year, according to a news release.

What's being done

The grants are intended to help the nonprofit agencies address issues such as access to health care and health services, mental health, food insecurity, safe shelter and housing, violence prevention and human trafficking, according to the news release.
