League City recently amended its budget for fiscal year 2025-26 by 1%, or $3.8 million.
What residents should know
League City City Council voted unanimously at its June 23 meeting to pass an ordinance that would allow the city to amend the budget it passed in September in order to accommodate new expenses.
With the change, the city’s total annual budget has been adjusted to $529 million to accommodate infrastructure projects and public safety upgrades, according to city documents.
The operating budget grew by $1.9 million, while the capital budget saw an injection of $1.8 million, according to city documents.
What else?
With the amendment, the city reduced the police department’s operating budget by $400,000, while the fire department and emergency medical services received increases of $169,000 and $7,000, respectively, for their operating budgets, according to city documents.
Breaking it down
The bulk of the city’s financial focus remains on its $333 million capital budget, which includes funding for major projects such as the expansion of the Southwest Water Reclamation Facility, Pat Hallisey Park development and traffic signal equipment, among others.
