The details
The nonprofit expo, which had more than 50 nonprofit booths at its inaugural event in March, will take place again March 29 at Johnnie Arolfo Civic Center, 400 W. Walker St., League City from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., according to the city’s website.
Those who are (c)(4) nonprofits and 501(c)(3)s from the League City area and Galveston County interested in registering for the event can do so through March 17, officials said.
The event is free to attend and will serve popcorn and drinks, according to the city’s website.
What else?
At the 2024 event, more than 50 nonprofits attended. This year, the city hopes to attract over 70, Amber Pedigo, League City manager of community engagement and special projects said. As of Feb. 21, the city has roughly 50 nonprofit organizations registered.
Nonprofits already signed up include League City Pets Alive, Friends of Helen Hall Library, Dickinson Festival of Lights, Moody Gardens, Wings over Houston and League City Fire Department, according to the city’s website.
The maritime branch of the local Girl Scouts chapter will showcase a watercraft they designed, while League City Police Department will showcase their SWAT vehicles and do a canine demonstration, Pedigo said.
At the 2024 event, there were 500 attendees and 180 people signed up as volunteers, Pedigo said.
Quote of note
“The goal of the nonprofit expo is to help people connect with local organizations so they can find their path towards volunteering their time and their talent,” Pedigo said. “A lot of people that have lived in League City for a long time or are new to League City don't know what organizations are out there that they can plug in with.”
