In addition, members approved renaming the road connecting Ervin Street and Muldoon Parkway from Emerson Drive to Longfellow Drive.
What happened
City Council voted unanimously to award $150,000 to Houston-based EHRA Engineering for the design, bidding and construction services for intersection improvements at Bay Area Boulevard and FM 518.
Documents from the city's capital improvement plan show the project will consist of adding a long southbound right-turn lane and extending the northbound left-turn lane. The new southbound lane will also involve relocating a signage pole.
The agreement with EHRA will go into effect March 3, according to agenda documents.
The second ordinance designates the roadway connecting Ervin Street and Muldoon Parkway as Longfellow Drive. The road is one of many new ones slated to be built out on the city’s developing west side.
Previously, Community Impact reported that council member Andy Mann had asked the roadway to be renamed from Emerson Drive, as it was named in the 2024 Master Mobility Plan, at City Council’s Jan. 28 meeting.
What else?
City Council also voted to establish a lower speed limit for a school zone near Clear Creek High School.
The speed limit on FM 518 from St. Christopher Avenue to Louisiana Avenue will be lowered to 25 miles per hour when the speed limit sign light flashes. The new speed limit will go into effect as soon as the sign is installed.
