League City has officially acquired Lobit Park from Galveston County.

On Nov. 1, city and county representatives, including Mayor Nick Long, celebrated a ribbon cutting denoting the official transfer of the park’s management from the county to the city. As part of the transfer, new trees were planted in the park.

League City City Council in 2022 voted to acquire the park, and the transfer increases the city’s total parkland by 28 acres. City officials have already made improvements to the park’s parking spaces, roads, drainage, seating and lighting, and more improvements are planned for the future.
