Nassau Bay City Council on April 11 hired Paul McLarty as city manager. His first day is June 1.

McLarty worked nearly 19 years for Clear Creek ISD and was most recently CCISD’s deputy superintendent of business and support services. In a social media post, McLarty said he is excited to work with an “awesome team” at the city.

“June 1 starts a new chapter in my life and the opportunity for me to serve the citizens of Nassau Bay,” he wrote in the post.

McLarty was one of 36 applicants for the city manager position. City Council selected him unanimously, according to the city.

The Nassau Bay city manager position was vacated after Nassau Bay City Council on Nov. 22 authorized Mayor Bob Warters to sign a mutually agreed-upon separation between the city and former City Manager Jason Reynolds, according to a Nov. 23 statement from the city.

“In an effort to address rumors: From both City Council and Jason Reynolds’ perspectives, the agreement was a result of philosophical differences. There were no wrongdoings by either party,” the statement reads.

Nassau Bay police Chief Tim Cromie has been acting as interim city manager in the meantime.
