There have been discussions about putting another bond before League City voters. What projects should be included in the bond?
If bonds are needed, I would suggest the City Council continue to focus on drainage and traffic projects that would eliminate flooding and traffic congestions. Due to the rapid growth on the west side of League City, first responders’ facilities including fire, police, and EMS stations will be required, especially to maintain the ISO 1 insurance rating and to provide adequate service. I would support bonds that could decrease the tax burden on property owners.
If elected, what would be your priorities?
To maintain the lowest property taxes. To keep our police, fire, and EMS departments the best in Texas by providing proper funding, equipment, and support. Continuing funding and be proactive on traffic improvements and drainage projects. Recruit commercial development that benefits the taxpayers by providing sustainable sales tax to the city’s budget. Support our local businesses and to provide great local economic strength for their success.
What makes you the best candidate for the job?
I have 42 years of municipal and governmental experience. My experience includes 9 years as a former League City Council Member and Mayor Pro-Tem for 1 year. I recently retired as a Houston Firefighter with 32 years. I have also served the League City Fire Department as the Assistant Fire Chief, Fire Marshal, and Deputy Fire Marshal for 20 years. Most importantly, I have served the community as a dedicated volunteer for the city.
