The College of the Mainland will break ground on its new campus services building April 23 as an investment in infrastructure to support daily campus operations, according to an April 22 news release from the college.
The groundbreaking ceremony will take place at 7825 Monticello Drive, Texas City, according to the release.
The big picture
The nearly 22,000-square-foot facility will combine campus services, including shipping and receiving, facility services, purchasing and storage, while expanding the college’s operational capacity, according to the release.
The new building features warehouse space, mechanic and woodworking shops, a truck dock and dedicated storage for both standard and electric service vehicles, according to the release.
Why now?
The building is funded through the college’s voter-approved 2023 bond program, which supports long-term efforts to expand access, modernize facilities, and strengthen both student services and daily operations, according to the release.
What’s new
The college also opened its corporate training center April 16 as the first project completed under the 2023 bond program, according to an April 9 news release from the college.
The center serves as a workforce hub, offering training, labs and flexible spaces for certifications and professional development, according to the release.
