Communities in Schools - Bay Area was awarded a $52,000 grant from Communities in Schools National to expand its model into another Galveston County campus, according to a news release from the organization.

The funding will allow the organization to create a dropout prevention program at Dickinson Junior High School, which is a main tenet of the organization’s mission, according to the release. The expansion will represent the 16th Dickinson ISD campus served.

Dickinson Junior High is the district’s third junior high school and will have about 900 students in grades six through eight, according to the release.

Communities in Schools - Bay Area was founded in 1989 and has partnerships with Clear Creek ISD and Dickinson ISD across 26 campuses, according to the release.
