There are 72 Clear Creek ISD students from 13 schools who were selected to be published in the “I Am Texas” book contest in which 1,000 students across the state were chosen to have their writing or artwork featured.

The book features individual narratives from the students describing their story living in Texas. The book stands at 7 feet tall, earning a Guiness World Record for the largest book in the world, and it will be displayed at The Bryan Museum in Galveston, according to a press release.

Brittany Fletcher, a Westbrook Intermediate School English language arts teacher, said the book contest allowed students to express themselves through their experience living as Texans. Westbrook Intermediate School had 52 students selected to be published in “I Am Texas.”

“This contest taught them not only a little bit more about who they are as a person, but also how to creatively express their ideas in connection to what they have learned in both language arts and history this year,” Fletcher said in the release.

A book-signing ceremony will be held for students in Houston Nov. 5.
