The Clear Creek ISD community can weigh in on several proposed 2022-23 calendar options for the next month ahead of final calendar approval at the Jan. 24 regular board of trustees meeting.

The calendar design and selection process begins each year in September at CCISD. While the district typically seeks feedback on no more than three options, a fourth option was introduced based on community desire for another winter break option that included three weekends.

“The fourth option is most similar to the option that has existed in previous years over the last decade,” Superintendent Eric Williams said during discussions at the Dec. 13 board meeting.

Calendar options were posted on the CCISD website, and community and staff choices were surveyed. A district committee recommended Option 1 to Superintendent Eric Williams.

There was a calendar draft, similar to Option 2, that included three weekends for the winter break under initial consideration by CCISD decision makers; it did not advance to the public because the district typically presents three options, according to board meeting documents.

“The biggest challenge ... has been around when our winter break would begin,” said Susan Silva, assistant superintendent of teaching and learning, on Dec. 13.

Teachers would return Aug. 8 in Option 4 and Aug. 9 in Option 1. Dec. 21 would be the last day before winter break in Option 1, compared to Dec. 16 in Option 4. School would start Aug. 17 and end May 25 with both of these calendar options.

Staff reopened the feedback window to allow for input on all four options; the window will close Jan. 4. Click here to view the options and cast a vote.
