Galveston County has reported an additional 482 coronavirus cases since June 17, with the case count totaling 1,968 as of June 22.

The county has had 681 recoveries and 40 deaths since mid-March. No new deaths have been reported since June 11.

The county passed the 1,000-case mark in early June. The case count total includes outbreaks at five nursing homes in League City and Texas City, which account for roughly a third of the total cases in each city. Between June 17-22, the case count at two Texas City nursing homes rose over 100 for the first time; cases at the League City and Friendswood nursing homes did not increase.

A new highest daily positive case count was reached June 20, when the county reported 142 cases. The previous daily high, 108 cases, was on June 17. Cases were reported at an average rate of about 96 a day between June 17-22.

Galveston County also began reporting antibody test results in mid-June. A total of 628 people have received antibody testing thus far, with all but nine of those people testing negative.
