Another Galveston County resident has died from the coronavirus COVID-19 since June 1, according to data from the Galveston County Health District.

The county has seen 876 total cases—an increase of 29 cases since two days ago. There have been 486 recoveries and 38 deaths since the pandemic began mid-March, according to the data.

The case count total includes outbreaks at five nursing homes in League City, Texas City and Friendswood, accounting for 219 cases, or 25% of the total cases.

June 2: League City City Council has made more than $250,000 in Community Development Black Grant funds to pay rent and utilities for residents facing a financial emergency due to COVID-19. The city will work with Interfaith Caring Ministries to distribute the funds.
