CORONAVIRUS: Fort Bend County reports 100 new cases over the weekend, releases data on patients’ race, ethnicity

For the first time, Fort Bend County is releasing COVID-19 case data broken down by race and ethnicity.

Fort Bend County, state officials working to reduce 2020 appraisal property values

This year’s appraisal notices sent to property owners in Fort Bend County were calculated prior to the coronavirus hitting the area, but county officials seeking other ways to reduce residents’ property tax burden.



Fort Bend County to distribute over $140M from CARES Act to further local COVID-19 relief efforts

The federal government’s economic stimulus package disbursed $141.6 million in relief funds to Fort Bend County. A steering committee will assist the county in deciding how to use the funds, although a county official said he expects the majority of it will be used for testing.

Sweetwater Boulevard Bridge over Alcorn Bayou in Sugar Land in need of repairs, city officials say

The Texas Department of Transportation in 2018 determined the bridge has structural issues and is in need of repairs and maintenance work.
