The Bridge for Kids is eyeing a grand opening date in early 2024 and in the meantime is preparing the interior of the building, Executive Manager Aja Hacket said.

In August, officials said the building was delayed due to challenges in obtaining needed materials. Hacket said the building itself is now ready, but the organization running the building, The Bridge Over Troubled Waters, will need more time to prepare the building for children.

“Because it’s a child care center, there’s certain licensing requirements,” Hacket said.

The timeline is more complicated due to upcoming things, such as Christmas, which will push the building preparation back in terms of priority, Hacket said.

The Bridge Over Troubled Waters offers support and safety to prevent domestic and sexual violence, according to its website. The Bridge for Kids is part of that mission.
