The University of Houston-Clear Lake Art Gallery will exhibit its own art through Aug. 19, the university announced in a press release.

The exhibition, titled “Works from the UHCL Collection," will highlight art displayed throughout the time since the gallery’s opening in 1979.

UHCL Cultural Arts Director Eric Despard said in the release that he hopes visitors will note the collection’s size and the university’s commitment to supporting the arts.

UHCL's main gallery features pieces from Judy Chicago’s “Birth Trinity” and “Dinner Party.” Chicago is an American artist known for her feminist works.

The smaller gallery includes posters from 40 years of UHCL’s exhibitions, intended to showcase the university’s longstanding interest in showcasing art, Despard said.

The exhibition opened July 25 and will run through Aug. 19. Admission is free, and the gallery is closed on weekends.
