How will you cover the state Legislature?


As state lawmakers head to Austin this month to lobby for their constituents, Community Impact Newspaper will embark on coverage that helps readers stay informed on the bills that affect Cy-Fair-area businesses, residents and school districts.


Beginning in January, Community Impact Newspaper will provide monthly reports throughout the 85th session, following important bills and resolutions on proposals from local state legislators.


Although the session officially began Jan. 10, many local legislators prefiled bills in anticipation of hot-button issues that could result in new laws and big changes at home. Already there are multiple proposed bills from local officials regarding limiting increases to property taxes, the payment of public pensions, voting rights and Child Protective Services.
