Grand Texas officials announced July 24 another delay of the opening for two of the park’s newest attractions: Big Rivers Waterpark and Gator Bayou Adventure Park.

Both parks are a part of Montgomery County’s first theme park Grand Texas, which totals 632 acres and sits at the intersection of Hwy. 242 and Hwy. 59 in New Caney. Big Rivers Waterpark is a 40-acre park with waterslides and a wave pool. Gator Bayou Adventure Park will hold a fishing hole, petting zoo, alligator exhibit and bumper boats.

The entertainment venue has not announced a new possible opening date, according to park officials. The company said in a release they plan to regularly update their Grand Texas and Big River Facebook pages.

“In the past, we’ve given you our best guesses for an opening date, but weather and other challenges have caused delays, disappointing both you and the Big Rivers team,” the release said.

The parks, which broke ground in December of last year, were initially slated to open on June 29, but Grand Texas cited inclement weather as the reason for the initial delay. The opening was then pushed back to mid-July.

Park officials said in a Facebook post that if customers had already purchased a 365 Pass, it would still be usable, as it is valid 365 days after its activation.

Grand Texas opened two other developments in 2016, Grand Texas RV Park and Speedsportz Racing. In addition, a Sportsplex will break ground in September and the construction of Grand Texas Theme Park—which is expected to have five roller coasters, dozens of rides and live entertainment—will begin in 2020.
