Fallout from Hurricane Harvey continues to be felt throughout Houston. It has just been announced that the Wortham Theater Center will remain closed for repairs until at least mid-May 2018.

On Aug. 27, 12 feet of water filled the basement of the Wortham, filling the tunnel connecting the theater to the parking garage.

Officials say it does not appear the building suffered any structural damage, but the air handling units and elevators have been affected.

Restoration work continues at the theater. Officials are targeting a reopening date of May 15, 2018 in what they call a 'best-case scenario.'

In a statement on social media, the theater center said it would be posting rescheduled dates and locations for events originally scheduled to take place at the Wortham Center as it receives the information.
