On the heels of aesthetic renovations and naming a new director, the Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts reopens Jan. 16.
During renovations in September, the museum received upgrades to its air conditioning system, the installation of a new backup generator and the restoration of the floors and restrooms, Development and Marketing Director Laura Baker said.
The museum’s new director, Julia Bussinger took over in December. Bussinger hopes to attract a greater diversity of artists and lead the museum into a bigger facility by 2020. The Pearl plans to open a 40,000-square-foot art museum near the intersection of Hwy. 249 and the Grand Parkway within five years, allowing the museum to house a permanent collection.
“We’re trying to bring a world-class collection to the Pearl,” Bussinger said.
