On the evening of July 4, residents in the Tomball and Magnolia area will have an opportunity to celebrate the country's independence with two family-friendly events open to the public.

The city of Tomball will host its third annual July 4th Celebration and Street Party featuring live music, a play area for children, vendors and a fireworks display. The festivities will take place from 5–10 p.m. on Business 249 just north of FM 2920 behind Kroger.

The children's area will offer wall-to-wall games, bounce houses, an inflatable waterslide, face painting, a petting zoo area, pony rides and other activities. Various vendors such as Pecos Grilling Company, The Original Rib Tickler and Kona Ice will be selling food items and treats along Business 249.

Funk band Fidelity Maxx will take the stage from 5–6:30 p.m., and classic rock group The Bottle Rockers will play from 7:15 p.m. until dark. A fireworks display with patriotic music is scheduled to light up the area beginning at 9:15 p.m. Admission and parking are free, and extra spaces are available immediately north of the site at Hicks Street off Hwy. 249.

In addition, the city of Magnolia will offer its annual Fourth of July event spotlighting live music, equipment displays, a bicycle parade and a fireworks showcase. The celebration will be held at Unity Park beginning at 5 p.m.

The patriot-themed bicycle and tricycle parade begins at 5:30 p.m. and is geared toward children ages 3–13. Trophies will be awarded for the best decorated bicycle and tricycle, and participants will receive ribbons for first, second and third place entries.

Spur 149, a local classic/southern rock band, is returning this year to play at Unity Park until the fireworks begin. Throughout the evening, the Magnolia Police Department will display its new mobile command center, and the Army Reserve detachment at Lone Star Executive Airport in Conroe will showcase its military equipment on-site.

Free hot dogs and watermelon slices will be available to patrons, and families are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and picnic supplies. The fireworks showcase starts around 9:30 p.m., and there is no cost for admission or parking at the event.
