After a two-year hiatus, Uptown Houston will celebrate the holiday season with its 32nd annual lighting event on Thanksgiving evening.
The event will be able to showcase the street, sidewalk and landscape improvements along the Post Oak Boulevard, according to a news release. Construction along Post Oak will wrap up with the opening of the METRORapid line in 2020.
The free event draws more than 100,000 people to the Uptown District between Westheimer Road and San Felipe Street, where the evening is capped off with a light show and fireworks display.
This year, the event features 300 new, 20-foot-tall holiday trees along 1.7 miles of Post Oak Boulevard from the West Loop to Richmond Avenue—four times as many trees as in previous years. The trees themselves will have lighting integrations capable of displaying millions of colors.
