Sweetgreen’s expansion continued in Houston, with its location at 1303 Westheimer Road celebrating a grand opening event on Sept. 28 featuring guests such as Manready Mercantile, Steel City Pops, Tiny Boxwoods, and Chef Chris Shepherd. The Annie Cafe and Bar reopened Sept. 25 at 1800 Post Oak Blvd., Houston. Benjamin Berg, of BB Lemon, BB Italia and other ventures, partnered with Annie’s chef and owner Robert Del Grande to revamp the restaurant’s design and menu. Sambrooks Management Company opened its Tex-Mex concept Candente, 4306 Yoakum Blvd., Houston, on Sept. 16. Along with Tex-Mex staples fajitas, tacos and queso, the menu includes brisket nachos and brisket enchiladas—drawing on its ties to The Pit Room down the street—as well as a full bar serving up margaritas and palomas, and complimentary soft-serve. www.candentehtx.com

Phoenix-based Postino Wine Cafe opened its second Houston outpost Sept. 15 at 805 Pacific St., in the former location of the Montrose Mining Company, Houston’s longest-running gay bar. The restored space includes photos and mementos from its history. The bar is significantly larger than its Heights counterpart, with seating for almost 200 inside and out. Natural Pawz, a pet retailer specializing in natural and holistic pet products, held a grand opening for its Montrose location, 208 Westheimer Road, on Sept. 7.
