Baylor Scott & White Health has appointed Pete McCanna as the health care system’s next president, effective in mid-September.

Current President and CEO Jim Hinton announced Monday the creation of a new office of the president to serve the organization. Hinton has been serving as both president and CEO since he joined Baylor Scott & White Health in January 2017. Hinton will continue to serve as CEO and will transition some of his responsibilities to McCanna.

"Pete is a highly respected senior executive with a track record of helping to grow organizations, create and implement successful, long-range strategic plans and lead financial turnarounds," Hinton said in a statement.

McCanna has been serving as executive vice present and chief operating officer at Northwestern Medical Healthcare based in Chicago. McCanna has more than 30 years of experience in healthcare management and consulting. He has served as CFO at Presbyterian Healthcare Services in New Mexico and CFO at the University of Colorado Hospital in Denver before joining Northwestern.

Baylor Scott & White Health has centers and hospitals across the state, including in Colleyville, Frisco, Grapevine, McKinney, Plano and Southlake.
