Grapevine nurse honored as one of DFW's top 100 nurses

A Grapevine nurse has been selected as one of Dallas-Fort Worth’s Great 100 Nurses as announced by the DFW Great 100 Nurses.

Shirley Roberts is a clinic nurse manager for the Grapevine Relief and Community Services GRACE Community Clinic, a nonprofit that offers assistance to families and individuals in northeast Tarrant County struggling with low income or a recent emergency. She was selected from over 700 nominees.

“My passion is nursing, and my passion is helping people,” Roberts said.

In a surprise parade May 4, coworkers congratulated Roberts on her nomination. Grapevine Police Department staff were also in attendance. Following the parade, Roberts and others tuned in for a virtual celebration.

Nurses are selected based on their service as role models, leadership, community service, compassionate caregiving and significant contributions to the field, according to a press release.

“These nurses have been through a great deal of trauma the past 14 months and still find ways to inspire and uplift their colleagues. It’s humbling to be part of a community like that,” said Amy McCarthy, president-elect of the Great 100 Nurses, in a press release.
