State Farm Neighborhood Assist program to offer $25K grants for nonprofits

To mark its 100th anniversary, insurance company State Farm, which has a regional hub in Richardson, is expanding a nationwide program that awards $25,000 grants to help nonprofit organizations fund neighborhood improvement projects.

The window for nonprofits to apply to the State Farm Neighborhood Assist grant program will open Feb. 16 and close once 4,000 submissions have been collected, according to a press release. While the program previously awarded 40 grants, this year that number has been increased to 100.

“State Farm Neighborhood Assist truly embodies the spirit of what our company has been about for 100 years—being a good neighbor,” said Rasheed Merritt, State Farm Assistant Vice President, in a statement. “We are excited about expanding the program in 2022 to help even more neighborhoods.”

While State Farm has its headquarters in Bloomington, Illinois, it has regional hubs in the CityLine development in Richardson, Atlanta and Phoenix.

One of last year's Neighborhood Assist program grants went to Richardson nonprofit The Warren Center for autism assessment services. The Warren Center currently serves more than 1,000 children per month, according to State Farm's press release.

Submissions can be made next month at www.neighborhoodassist.com, where more information is also available. Winners are slated to be announced June 7, according to the press release.
