Why are you running for office?
We need diverse representation in our judiciary. I’m committed to reforming our rehabilitation programs to include career readiness resources. I will do my part to keep our jails safe by running efficient dockets, protecting our juvenile resources and ensuring tax dollars are not wasted.
What are the biggest challenges being a judge?
The biggest challenges we face are overcrowded jails, bond conditions and clogged dockets.
How do you plan to address these issues?
I have a strategic plan to reduce the case backlog by implementing to finalize cases within three years. This would assist with reducing the jail population. It’s imperative that we look at the case circumstances to determine what, if any, bond conditions are necessary and which conditions would be appropriate.
What would your top priorities be if you are elected?
My top priority will be to bring any case pending longer than four years to finality within the first six months. Next, I will implement the procedure to docket all cases so that they will finalize within years of indictment.
Why are you running for office?
My dad, a prosecutor, was threatened in court. As a result, I was never allowed to go anywhere at school alone. Years later, my dad explained that the judge kept us safe. I’ve wanted to be a judge since then to keep others safe.
What are the biggest challenges being a judge?
The biggest challenge is keeping the docket numbers down with an exploding population. I will set firm trial dates, which will help keep the docket under control. This will allow both sides an opportunity to get ready and to know when the negotiation period will end.
How do you plan to address these issues?
I will encourage lawyers to make decisions on their cases early to prevent backlog while also allowing the opportunity to advocate for their clients.
What would your top priorities be if you are elected?
To be a judge with sound judicial temperament who enforces the law with well-reasoned, thoughtful decisions while treating the litigants with fairness and respect. I want better management of the docket to more effectively keep our citizens safe.
