Morris noted that to have candidates win by margins like this without heading to a runoff election sends a "very clear message" to the Tarrant Appraisal District and other taxing entities. He reiterated that his goals are to set strict appraisal limits, fix the district's website and go to a three-year appraisal system.
"It's important for voters to continue to get involved," Morris said. "They need to show up to the board meetings and they need to reiterate to the board and to their city councils and school boards where they want the direction of TAD to go, because we can't do it alone. We need to continue to have voter support."
Messages to Rigney and Bryant for comment were not immediately returned.

In early voting, there were 49,972 ballots cast at locations across the county, which represents 3.91% of Tarrant County's 1.28 million registered voters.
Totals from ballots cast May 4 have yet to be released. Polls closed at 7 p.m., although voters who were in line at 7 p.m. were still able to cast ballots.
The background
Senate Bill 2 mandates that counties with a population of over 75,000 should have their boards of directors increased by three members through a majority vote, who will be elected to staggered, four-year terms.
A majority vote means that the winning candidate must receive more than 50% of the votes.
The five existing board members are elected by taxing entities in the county, such as school board members, city and town council members, Tarrant County commissioners and Tarrant County College's board of trustees.

If a runoff election is needed, it is slated for June 15. The winners of the three races will take office July 1 and serve until Dec. 31, 2026.
