The Dallas Fort Worth International Airport saw steep declines in the number of passengers passing through its doors this spring.
March saw a decrease of 45.5% in year-over-year passenger numbers, according to the most recent data made available from the DFW Airport. Overall, flight operations have been reduced more than 65%, according to a news release.
This has resulted in the airport undergoing maintenance and rehabilitation projects during the downtime. For example, the airport closed the northern 2,000 feet of Runway 17R/35L from May 10-25 during night operations.
The move to close the runway was to allow for the addition of Federal Aviation Administration approach lights.
