Fifteen Grapevine restaurants competed on April 29 for the people’s choice winner at the 30th annual Great Taste of Grapevine at the Grapevine Vintage Railroad depot.
The details
The event is a fundraiser for the Women’s Division of the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce. Money from the event helps purchase school supplies for underserved students in Grapevine-Colleyville ISD, as well as Christmas gifts for community members who utilize services from GRACE and Serving Our Seniors.

Competing in the food portion of the competition were AJ’s on Main, Esparaza’s Restaurante Mexicano, Ferrari’s Italian Villa & Chop House, Firebirds Wood Fired Grill, Lazy Dog, Mi Dia From Scratch, Rock & Brews, Three Barrels Beer Garden, Weinberger’s Deli and Winewood Grill.
Winewood Grill took home first place for the second year in a row, serving red-wine-braised short ribs with rosemary mashed potatoes and bacon-wrapped quail.
Weinberger’s Deli took home second place for serving a trio of sandwich options, while Mi Dia took home third for serving birria tacos.
What else?
For the first time, there was a dessert category.
Andy’s Frozen Custard, Beth Marie’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream, JudyPie, Kilwin’s and Portillo’s all competed in that division. Beth Marie’s took home first place.
