Williamson County commissioners rename county roads

On April 29, Williamson County commissioners voted to rename the roads next to the Williamson County Georgetown Annex Georgetown Annex and future Williamson County Administration Building.

In a nutshell

A looped road circling the future WCAB will be named Texas Trail, according to county documents. Precinct 3 Commissioner Valerie Covey said officials are building a road from Southwestern Boulevard that will connect to Texas Trails, but a gap in the road needs to be filled.

“In order to make it easier to know where you are, WilCo Way will extend from [SE] Inner Loop to Southwestern Boulevard,” Covey said. “That is my motion.”

A portion of Tracy Chambers Lane will also be renamed to WilCo Way, Covey said.

The vote

Commissioners voted to rename the road unanimously, and Covey said there are no buildings that will need to change addresses due to the vote.

“It’s a good time to do it before any other buildings go in,” Covey said. “It also will give us two ways in and out of that complex, so it’ll be safer.”

One more thing

Covey said funding already exists to design and construct the extension of WilCo Way.
