The Williamson County Commissioners Court allocated approximately $8.85 million for several capital improvement projects for fiscal year 2020-21 during its Sept. 22 meeting.
CIP money can be used for capital projects, facilities maintenance and equipment purchases. In the FY 2020-21 plan, the court voted to fund projects for parks, the county jail, remodeling office space and technology; they further moved to keep $2.6 million available for future capital improvement needs.
Projects include restroom renovations at two county parks, a magistrate court and pretrial services remodel, an additional elevator at the county jail and a justice center records room remodel, among other projects.
The court also allocated $1.7 million for a countywide flood plan mapping. The project is still pending as the county is seeking grant funding for a 50% match on the mapping, but the county will bring forth a grant proposal for the court to approve as early as Sept. 29, Williamson County Senior Director of Infrastructure Robert Daigh said.
