After 10 weeks of a Williamson County-wide burn ban, County Judge Bill Gravell lifted the ban for unincorporated areas of the county.
Current situation
Gravell terminated the burn ban Dec. 6 at 10 a.m. after he determined outdoor burning would no longer exacerbate a public safety hazard given the area’s conditions, according to county documents.
Gravell lifted the ban 17 days early from the ban’s original 90-day limit, which he is authorized to do, according to county documents.
Local fire departments might require a burn permit before outdoor burning may begin, according to a Williamson County news release. Controlled burns can be reported to the Williamson County Communications department at 512-864-8282, per the release.
