The Georgetown City Council will have two new faces and one returning member for the three seats up for election on May 7, according to a release from the city.
Georgetown Districts 3,4 and 7 all received one candidate in the filing window that closed Feb. 18 at 5 p.m., meaning candidates from all three seats will run unopposed.
District 3 will once again be represented by Mike Triggs, who filed for reelection to the seat he initially won in 2019 in a close race over then-incumbent John Hesser.
Districts 4 and 7 however, saw their current councilmembers, Steve Fought and Tommy Gonzalez, choose to not run for reelection.
Instead, District 4, will be represented by Ron Garland, a retired executive who worked for the Boy Scouts of America for nearly 40 years and is a current member of the Georgetown Economic Development Corporation. The district is primarily in the north-central part of the city.
