The city of Georgetown released over a million gallons of wastewater from the Dove Springs and San Gabriel Wastewater Treatments Plants due to heavy rainfall Jan. 22, according to a news release.

The Dove Springs Wastewater Treatment Plant released approximately 737,000 gallons of domestic wastewater, while the San Gabriel Wastewater Treatment Plant released approximately 975,000, according to the news release.
The wastewater discharge is not anticipated to cause harm to human health and safety or the receiving waterways, and the water supply remains safe for consumption, according to the news release.
