Georgetown Recreation Center closed for maintenance Aug. 31-Sept. 7

The Georgetown Recreation Center will be closed for a week at the beginning of September for regular annual maintenance, according to a city newsletter.

What you need to know

While the facility will be closed from Aug. 31-Sept. 7, employees will still answer phone calls and return emails from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Contractors will focus on preventative maintenance and upgrades to the facility, including:

• Plumbing fixture replacements
• Locker room lighting
• Cleaning the facility and equipment
• Flooring projects
• Administrative tasks and organization
• Staff training

Additionally, the indoor recreation pool is closed for plaster replacement and will open in early October, the newsletter states. Recreation center members can use the pool at 3201 Williams Drive during this time.
