Candidate filing for Georgetown ISD board, Georgetown City Council opens ahead of May 6 election

The GISD board of trustees voted unanimously in favor of calling an election May 6 during its Jan. 17 meeting.

Places 4 and 5 on GISD are held by Stephanie Blanck and Melanie Conner, respectively.

Georgetown City Council members and the mayor also serve three-year terms. City Council members represent one of seven single-member districts, and the mayor represents the entire city.

Prospective candidates for a City Council member must be a resident of the district they are seeking to serve for 12 months prior to election day. Likewise, the mayor must be a Georgetown resident for 12 months prior to election day. All candidates must be at least 21 years old on the first day of their term in office, a citizen, and a qualified voter in Texas and Georgetown, according to the city.

Completed applications can be submitted at City Hall at 808 Martin Luther King, Jr. St., Georgetown.

City Council districts 2 and 6 are held by Shawn Hood and Jake French, respectively, and Josh Schroeder is the Georgetown mayor.

Early voting for the May 6 election will run from April 24-May 2, and the last day to register to vote in the May election is April 6.
