Those seeking to run for spots on the Georgetown ISD board of trustees and Georgetown City Council have from Jan. 18 until Feb. 17 to file for candidacy.
Two Georgetown ISD board of trustees positions—places 4 and 5—and two Georgetown City Council seats—districts 2 and 6—as well as mayor will be on the May 6 ballot.
Each GISD trustee serves three-year terms. Trustees are elected at large, meaning each school board member represents the entire district. To run for school board, an individual must be a resident of GISD and otherwise qualified to vote in the election they are running for, according to the district.
Prospective candidates can file their application at the Hammerlun Center for Leadership & Learning at 507 E. University Ave., Georgetown.
