Georgetown ISD Athletic Director Todd York resigned Feb. 19 following an announcement that he accepted an offer to serve in the same capacity in Midlothian ISD, the district announced in a news release. York served as athletic director for five years, and during his tenure, his coaching staff led the boys swim team to a 2019 State UIL championship title, among other notable wins over the years, the release said. York previously served in Georgetown as an assistant football coach in the mid-1980s and led that team to a 2A District Championship, the release said. “Our board honors our vision, mission and beliefs in all decision making. The search for our next athletic director will be grounded in those articles,” GISD Superintendent Fred Brent said in the release. “Coach York has been an asset to our district and is leaving GISD athletics in a better place than when he arrived.” A search will begin immediately for a new athletic director, the release said.
