Georgetown ISD to convene citizens advisory committee to address growth needs

Explaining the role

As in the 2021 bond, the committee will be made up of community members selected to serve through an application process. Committee members are volunteers and required to live within the bounds of GISD, according to the district. Committee members are intended to represent the district's own diverse and complex interests.

How we got here

Voters approved a $333.42 million bond package in its 2021 election, and some of those projects are in progress. However, recent growth has led the district to consider whether additional investments in facilities and infrastructure might be necessary. The update regarding a potential action item to form the committee came during an Aug. 7 workshop.

Next steps

• Community members will be able to apply to participate in the committee at a later date.
• Feb. 16 is the deadline to call a bond.
