Georgetown ISD presents new strategic direction, objectives

As part of the district’s ongoing process to develop its strategic direction, Georgetown ISD board members discussed four priority areas under that overall direction at their March 6 workshop.

GISD’s four identified strategic areas are student learning and growth, student and staff well-being, staff recruitment and retention, and community and connectivity, according to the presentation.

Under each of the priority areas are about a dozen objectives that will be used to measure the district’s progress. Melinda Brasher, GISD executive director for communications and community engagement, said each school year the board will identify a few objectives in each area to prioritize.

Brasher said the strategic direction will be the guiding framework for the school board’s goals as well as the campus and district improvement plans.

The board of trustees is expected to adopt the strategic priority areas and objectives at its March 21 meeting. Then, district leaders will work to identify priority objectives for the coming year. Campus and district improvement plans will be adopted in August.

“When understanding the needs of our district, we want to gain clarity of a vision, what we are working toward, so that we can build quality objectivity for every campus,” Superintendent Fred Brent said.
