As work stemming from Georgetown ISD’s 2021 bond election continues with the expansion of facilities and technology, board trustees and district staff are beginning discussions on a potential bond election next year.
The overview
In 2021, Georgetown voters approved two of three bond propositions, authorizing the district to issue $333.42 million in bonds for school facilities and capital improvement as well as $16.5 million in bonds for technology infrastructure and equipment. Around $342 million is now tied up in construction and technology projects, Support Services Executive Director Kirby Campbell said in a July 10 workshop with the GISD board of trustees.
The funding has allowed the district to begin construction on new schools and a future-ready complex, while projects to install new sunshades and heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment at some campuses have been completed.
