Garey Park splash pad to undergo renovations

The Garey Park splash pad will undergo renovations following City Council approval Jan. 13.

The details

The renovations are a part of regular maintenance required for splash pads, and will address flagstone deterioration and work to maintain the anti-slip surfacing, according to city documents.

Council approved a $179,041 contract with BuyBoard for the maintenance. City officials expect renovations to begin in late January and wrap up by mid-March.

The history

Since Garey Park opened in 2018, the splash pad has been the park's most popular seasonal amenity, according to city documents. Open April through October, the 7,000-square-foot splash pad has 28 motion-activated water features.
