DATA: Georgetown’s unemployment claims continue to drop as businesses open

Georgetown continues to see fewer filed unemployment claims over time, according a Texas Workforce Commission unemployment claim dashboard.

Between May 6 and June 6, 910 residents of Georgetown’s three ZIP codes—78626, 78628 and 78633—filed unemployment claims, data shows. Williamson County began to open businesses May 1.

The one-month snapshot has dropped significantly from TWC’s March 16-April 16 report, when Georgetown had 3,113 claims, the highest number of claims within a month since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

However, the TWC also ranked Williamson County 13th of 25 Texas counties for highest unemployment counts with 6,577 claims over the past month. At its peak during the pandemic, Williamson County had 23,211 unemployment claims between March 16 and April 16.
