UPDATED: Georgetown Public Library moves to curbside after Williamson County reports increase in coronavirus cases

As of Nov. 13, the Georgetown Public Library building is closed to the public and is only offering curbside pickup for reserved materials, according to a news release.

The shift to curbside-only service follows the Nov. 11 announcement by the Williamson County and Cities Health District that the county has entered a state of high risk for the spread of the coronavirus, per the release.

The library’s curbside pickup hours were adjusted and are now as follows: Mon.-Fri. 10 a.m.-noon, 2-6 p.m.; Sat. 10 a.m.-noon, 2-5 p.m. It is located at 402 W. Eighth St., Georgetown.

Books, DVDs and other library materials can be requested for curbside pickup via the library’s catalog website at www.catalog.georgetown.org, the release said. Items and previously reserved craft kits can be picked up in the Ninth Street parking lot. Patrons should have a mobile phone, park in a designated spot and follow the instructions on the sign at the parking stall, it said. Materials will be brought to their vehicle by library staff.

Returned materials are being accepted in the drive-thru book return slot in the Ninth Street parking lot, the release said. The library does not charge fines for overdue items, and donations are not being accepted at this time, it said.

The Georgetown Visitor Center, located at 103 W. Seventh St., Georgetown, will remain open however number of visitors at one time has been lowered. Occupancy limits remain in effect in other city facilities and masks are required to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission, officials said.
