Community Impact Summit and Cornerstone Awards

The Georgetown Chamber of Commerce hosted the seventh annual Community Impact Summit and Cornerstone Awards on Jan. 22 at the chamber. During the event the chamber invited city, county and school district leadership to give updates on the chamber’s four cornerstones—education, health care, public safety and economic development.

The chamber also awarded individuals and organizations that have excelled in the four areas in the past year. The winners include Oona Villarreal and John Copelan for education, TASUS Texas for economic development, Lone Star Circle of Care for health care and Williamson County Sheriff James Wilson for public safety.

13th Annual Food Show and Taste Testing

Georgetown ISD hosted its annual food show and taste-testing event Jan. 20 at East View High School.

The district’s Child Nutrition Services department invited representatives from more than a dozen food companies representing more than 100 manufacturers to give students, teachers and parents a chance to sample entrees and side dishes. Some sample dishes may become menu items in the district.

Students from throughout the district were able to participate.

Kathy Ragsdale retirement party

After working for the city of Georgetown for more than 30 years, Kathy Ragsdale (right) retired in January. The city hosted a retirement party Jan. 13 at the Georgetown Municipal Complex.

Ragsdale most recently served as the city’s conservation services manager and oversaw conservation efforts in the city.

Tamiro Plaza Phase 2 sign unveiling

Developer Francisco Choi (second from left) unveiled the coming soon sign Jan. 15 for Tamiro Plaza Phase 2. The mixed-use building with commercial and residential uses is located at Austin Avenue and Sixth Street.
