Frisco ISD announced a partnership with Collin College to launch the new Frisco Collegiate Academy at Memorial High School.
Frisco Collegiate Academy offers a four-year dual-credit program that allows students to earn a high school diploma and an associate of science degree simultaneously. The program is set to start next school year, according to a Nov. 2 district news release.
What to know
The FISD website states the collegiate academy helps students get a head start on college through a structured, four-year academic plan while providing access to resources from both FISD and Collin College.
Beginning in the 2027-28 school year, students accepted into Frisco Collegiate Academy will be enrolled at Memorial High School and attend classes on its campus. The FISD website states collegiate academy students can participate in extracurricular activities while pursuing their college coursework.
FISD Assistant Deputy Superintendent Wes Cunningham said the program gives incoming freshmen seeking higher education “a chance to get started right away.”
“The collegiate academy gives students the best of both worlds – a head start on college and the full high school experience,” Cunningham said in a district release. “Frisco ISD already has a great partnership with Collin College, but most students don’t start taking their dual credit courses until later in high school.”
The program’s application period runs from Nov. 11-Dec. 11. Incoming ninth graders can enroll in the academy regardless of their attendance zones, but they must attend Memorial.
Other details
To apply, students must be enrolled in FISD and have a student ID. The collegiate academy is open to current eighth graders. Students must meet required college-readiness scores in English language arts and reading, according to the FISD website.
The district will host two collegiate academy information sessions on Nov. 11 and Nov. 17. The first session will take place at 6 p.m. via webinar, and the second will be held at 6 p.m. at Memorial High School.
FISD will notify parents of students’ selection in early 2027. The deadline to accept a seat is Feb. 12, 2027.
