Frisco ISD renews three-year dual credit partnership with Collin College

Frisco ISD’s renewed its dual credit partnership with Collin College for three years. 

During a Sept. 21 board meeting, the Frisco ISD Board of Trustees approved a consent agenda item renewing the contract. The district has partnered with Collin College to offer dual credit courses since 1987. 

The details

FISD’s dual credit programs with Collin College include: 

• Texas government

• Introduction to sociology

• Art appreciation

• United States History 1 and 2 

• College algebra

• Calculus 1

• Astronomy 

• Career and technical education

Dual credit courses are taught by college professors and grades earned in the courses are posted on a student’s college and high school transcripts. Students enrolled in dual-credit courses will pay the Collin County tuition rate.

The renewed contract extends dual credit services through July 31, 2029, according to board documents. 

“We appreciate the opportunity for Collin College to work with Frisco ISD in offering dual credit classes for your students,” Raul Martinez, Collin College associate vice president of P-12 Partnerships, wrote in a board document. “We believe this is a tremendous service to [FISD] students and their parents, and we look forward to continuing or expanding the course offerings in the future.” 

What parents need to know

Collin College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. Credits students earn can be transferred to public institutions in Texas as well as public and private colleges outside the state.

Students who continue with Collin College after high school have the opportunity to transfer through Collin’s preadmission partnership to the following schools:

• Amberton University

• Austin College

• Baylor University

• East Texas A&M University

• Excelsior College

• Franklin University

• National University

• Southern Methodist University

• Texas Wesleyan University

• The University of Texas at Dallas

• University of North Texas

What else to know

Starting with the 2026-27 school year, FISD students can take up to four semesters of college courses while in high school through Collin College’s EDGE Dual Credit program. 

The EDGE program offers project-based learning courses from 9 a.m. to noon and 1-4 p.m. Monday through Thursday at Collin College’s Frisco campus, with families responsible for transportation. Tuition is $67 per credit hour, with free tuition available to qualifying students and in-county rates extended to Denton County students.
