WHAT WE REPORTED:
In 2019 the Army Corps of Engineers is expected to embark on a $150 million, six-year process to minimize the potential of dam failure at Lewisville Lake Dam. In February, President Donald Trump’s budget proposals for FY 2019 were released, and they included a request for $55 million for dam repairs.
THE LATEST:
The
Lewisville Dam Safety Modification Project is now fully funded. Clayton Church, public affairs specialist for US Army Corps of Engineers Fort Worth district, said design for the spillway repairs is ongoing. The contract for seepage issues and other embankment repairs is expected to be awarded by the end of March. “[I] assure you the Lewisville Lake Dam continues to successfully perform all functions for which it was designed,” he said. “Our routine surveillance activities and inspections continue, and we recently upgraded our monitoring equipment to provide us even more accurate information about the structure.”
